Go Music

I think I may have posted in the original GD chat, but I always like this subject.

Although I tend to go for rock/hard rock music (Skillet, Disciple, Three Days Grace, Thousand Foot Krutch, Linkin Park, Trapt, etc.), I find that I like gentler music for Go, though that's not to say that I like low-tempo.

In fact, I have a specific Go song, Contact by Falling Up, that I listened to endlessly as a low kyu (and while reading Hikaru no Go) and now brings to mind only Go (and is a constant reminder of my awful games).

Someone saw the reddit front page today.

This was reddit front page? I think this combination has been around for a long time. I've been listening to Rainymood combined with the Fragrance of Dark Coffee for at least 9 months... Though I never added a fireplace going. Not sure it adds much, so I'm not too worried.
I know I wasn't the first person to do this combo, I saw it on an imageboard long before I tried it.

Best music/go combo I ever had was at my club when some good solid James Brown came on the restaurant's BGM. I got the funk and and the groove and even though I didn't necessarily play any better, it sure FELT better. Kinda like those de ja vou (sp?) moments where everything seems familiar like you've done this hundreds of times before and you are just following the familiar flow.

No worries though, I will excuse your French. After seeing that even otherwise perfectly intelligent Americans are capable of writing horrifying things like "per say", in my mind Americans are somewhat collectively forgiven for foreign language abuse. What do you want, in a country with (apparently) zero language education. Your cradle just happened to stand in the wrong place on this planet, and there's nothing you could've done about that. All you can do is find a way to live with this misfortune. Good luck!

Yeah, sorry about the laziness of not actually looking up the correct spelling and figuring out how to type accents on my keyboard, but I was caught up in the moment!

I used to play the Hikaru and Akagi OSTs while playing, but they've fallen out of favor.

But I've noticed whenever I have some difficult reading to do I instinctively switch off any music I play. I'm sure any music hurts my play, but playing with music is simply more fun.
Powerful orchestral music(which I love) hurts my play a lot, even when not fighting. It makes me overconfident and I overplay even more than normally.

i listen pretty much any music i currently like and i don't think it affects my go negatively at all - when i don't listen something, there is always some totally random song playing in my head (sometimes good one, sometimes not), repeating again and again, so i prefer listening something i can control (not to have to listen to voices in my head )

otherwise, my preferences varies a lot: rock (R.E.M), folk (Loituma), alternative rock, punk rock, steampunk (Abney Park), power metal (Rhapsody)
Flogging Molly, Gregorian, Era, and many various movie soundtracks (particularly from Tarantino movies)

PS: could someone recommend anything sounding similar to Meiko Kaji? (youtube sample). i have only one CD and it is not enough
