Future projects on KGS
What are the - if at all - bigger projects for improving KGS other than maintain it? Or is KGS basically set & done (would be alright with me too)? I still would die for a 3D-board and more board skins

Re: Future projects on KGS
My upcoming projects:
#1 - Finish the current release. Mostly it will be extra support tools for admins. Also includes one feature for users, not a huge one.
#2 - A better client for Android tablets. Right now the tablet client is very much like the phone client, which is kind of stupid because the phone client tries hard to leave out stuff in order to fit everything into a 4" screen.
#3 - Move to new hardware. Probably at a new ISP. My current ISP has been bought twice since I first moved to them, and their prices are now astronomically higher than their competitors.
#4 - Major change which I'd rather not talk all that much about. It does relate to what I've discussed before here, in that it is a big modernization of the client.
However there is something else on the horizon that may or may not happen, and if it does, it will mean reworking this list a lot. We'll see.
KGS is not done. But progress on it does move slowly.

Agree very whole-heartedly with this. There's nowhere I'd rather play.

Can you add some simple comfort features. In particular I'd like time and rank stamps on chat messages. It happens quite often that I don't know if some message has been written 1min or 2h ago. And ranks would be useful when somebody asks for help which happens often in channels like the KTL.

Well, there are the "turn-based" servers.
And some of the Windows clients for other servers occasionally work in wine. Although, personally, I usually don't even have wine installed on my Linux boxes, since I prefer native alternatives. The wine route really isn't very attractive. :/

I have no idea. The rating system hasn't changed in a long time, and I have no plans to change it either.Pippen wrote:I read about a recently modified rating system...what's up with that?

Since I had problems with Java and not getting windows to take control of the cursor under Linux, I ran Java under wine. I was amused that worked better for KGS.

Now that's lateral thinking. Don't know if your post was intended to be humorous, but it made me smile.
