is life "just a game"?

Post by phillip1882 »

so i hear a lot of people say you shouldn't take go too seriously as its just a game, but hey, life itself is a game right? you work to make money and then use that money to futher what you enjoy and keep yourself alive. the people that are the best at the most in demand skills make the most money. the people who die with the most money win! but on a more serious note: in my opinion you only improve when you take something seriously. the more serious you are about getting better, the more quickly you get better.

I'm sure at the precise moment of your death you're going to be very happy that you managed to make a few million dollars over your lifetime. You win!

no of course not, note the eye roll smily.
it does seem however to be one of the primary goals. would you not agree?
procreation and self preservation, the two demands of life (from an evolutionary standpoint), both generally require money.

You can define priorities however you want to in life. You can make money a priority if you want to.

In a game of go, there is an end-goal: To make the most points.

In life, you can define your end-goal to be whatever you want it to be. It could be to make the most money. It could be to enjoy the present. It could be to meet a wonderful wife. It could be to be able to win more games of go... :-)

In any case, the "rules of life" are not defined to have a set end-goal like go does. Making up your end-goals is up to you. In that sense, it's kind of fun. Make some goals. Set some priorities. Take some action. Write a story as your life unfolds.

To me, a problem only arises when the actions you are taking are not in alignment with the goals and priorities that you have. Or worse yet, if you have not examined your life to see what your goals and priorities are.

If you've examined your goals and priorities, and are taking action to put those into effect, then well... I'd say you're winning. :-D
