I'm saying your post is a lot more confusing than it needed to be.

Maybe. The idea is pretty obvious, and basically it comes down to expecting others - stronger players - to do the very thing you refuse to do yourself, which is play weaker players. And as obvious as it is, seems a lot of those who adhere to that philosophy don't actually realize it.

I think that might have had more to do with the 3:30 AM than the post itself :)
That which can be destroyed by the truth should be.

That always did strike me as funny. It's a conundrum! Of course, I've been playing weaker players recently. So that's not really an issue.

Oh, and totally unrelated, I know, I completely forgot today was my birthday. -_- I didn't want to create a whole thread to say that. I just thought someone might find that funny.

It would be very funny if the L19 forum is what reminded you of it :P

- To add: losing against weaker players doesn't drop rank any more than losing to same level or stronger opponents, provided that handicaps (or komi) are set correctly.

one would think it is so, but actually it isn't. usual handicaps doesn't fully compensate the rank difference, so beating weaker players is easier, and rating and ranking systems take it into account. this oddity comes from using improper handicap system

PS: and another interesting proposed system, making game even just by changing the usual 0,5 komi to -5,5 in handicap games.

I might be wrong, but probably not.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It's just bad I forgot my own birthday. -_- Normally people my age in the USA absolutely love to turn 21. But I guess I'm more of an oddity than I thought!
