Myung-In (Korean for Meijin) Kiwon in Palisades Park maybe much closer to you (about 9miles from Lyndhurst, NJ).

I believe it was $10 to play the whole day (9 years ago). It could have gone up few bucks now. Tell them you are about 7-8 Keup and start from there.

If it is a business, they would love free advertisement. After all, they do pay local circular to have their business listed. That is where I got info on above Korean Go Clubs in NJ.

However, in a strict sense, they are not clubs but salons.

BTW, you do not pay when you get it. You pay at the end of the day. If you go there to watch, no fees are due.

I'm sure you already know about this one. You can go to Stevens Tech in Hoboken on Mon nights as they meet there. But, they do stop during summer vacation.

I went to the Fort Lee Baduk salon today and I loved it! It prompted me to start a blog about my baduk journey. You can ready about my experience at the salon here.

If there are any players around the Fort Lee area, I HIGHLY recommend this place. There are several strong players and they will gladly play.

I'm glad you enjoyed. In the past, salon rooms would be smoke filled and I would have to change clothes as soon as I get home. They were also resistant to no smoking law as customers would drop off. But, I imagine much have changed in past 9 years.

I went to visit Fort Lee Go Club yesterday. My previous post shows the old address. Their new address is

It is next to a Chinese restaurant and although it says parking for restaurant only, you can park in the back for the go club use (according to the owner).
Unlike Myung-IN which does not have A/C, this place was clean and had AC.

Smokers took break outside which was a welcome change from few year back when I had to strip of all my clothes as soon as I get home from the smoke stench.

One thing is that shoes are allowed and they provide you with slippers.

Funny story.. A few months ago I was looking to play a little in person as I always play on internet. This is an interesting story.

Looking at the AGA website, I found that there was a Philadelphia Baduk Association located in a Korean neighborhood in the Cheltenham area. I went to the address and found that the listing was old and that it was out of business. After looking closely around and almost giving up, I saw a random Korean old guy and I thought to myself "I could picture him playing go". So I asked him if there were any Baduk salons close by; he led me to someone's home, where there were 6 players, boards, and a large T.V.

Every time I visit once in a while and there are always at least 6 players playing at any time of the day. The players there, in my opinion, are around 4 kyu to 3 dan in strength, although I have not played some of them. I think that I am a bother due to my low Baduk level. But yes, this establishment did not list itself in any website I found. I was the only non-Korean person there any time I went there.

My advice: the best way to find one is to go to an actual Korean neighborhood and ask for a Baduk house. In any Korean population, at least one person must play Baduk. Beginners like me should be careful as they will get a good ass kicking, nevertheless.
