Of Mnemonic's choices, I'm sure I prefer the simple jump. I suck at joseki, not having bothered to learn any but a very few which keep coming up in my games (and the 2-space low pincer isn't one of them), so I'm not sure how we're supposed to be following it up, but I doubt Mnemonic's cap is the only option (although it doesn't look a bad one).

But another option is surely to just invade the corner. Yes, I know, it gives black a lot of thickness, which works fairly well with tengen - but it does give us a fair amount of territory compared with the 3-3 invasion without first approaching, nor does it lead to us getting sealed in as badly. I feel it's an option, especially given our captain's expressed preference for us taking some cash. (Although he has also indicated, very reasonably imo, that he doesn't want us getting sealed in, so perhaps this is out for that reason. Although, as I said, I think it's hard to totally seal us in in this variation - plus it's also a respectable joseki.)

I don't know what to suggest, but am trying to say a bit more now I've finally got some time to have some thoughts.

Yep, we are - sorry black team. In my last post I entered into some discussion with Mnemonic about our next move (which he had already initiated), but I haven't had any response yet. I also have very little time these days, but this weekend I'll try to at least post a suggestion, even if I haven't had any more input from my teammate(s) by then.

I'd be happy to continue, but don't feel very motivated to if there's no comment from my team-mate (should that be plural? I got kind of lost where we got with finding a replacement for Rafa) or my captain...
