Tsumego is important. What were the other mistakes ?

Post by lorill »

Here's a game I'm ashamed to have lost. I knew I needed to live, and played some small endgame instead.
Can you help me to find the other mistakes ? Comments & questions are in the sgf.

Thanks !

I think that you came out of the lower right way better than he did. ( Move 20? At P6? Move 22 and 24 look dubious too. And he is 1K?? )

Move 25: They are only 6 points if you kill them. That is too small for you right now. Instead of thinking about how you are going to attack those stones, it probably is enough just to make sure that they cannot cause trouble for you. Eventually he will have to waste a move or two to save them. Their only possiblitiy in the near future would be to join to a white group that grows up on the lower side or right side. Once the problem is phrased that way, K4 seems obvious. It grabs territory, and it neutralizes anything that they can do on the lower side.
K4, of course, is a textbook move by transposition: Usually you would play F3, he would reply C6 or D6, you would play K4. In this instance, you play K4 first, and he has to play something around C6 or D6 just so you don't. Then you are well on your way to big territory on the lower side, and you have sente. ( Moves like K17 or F17 or N17 could be next. )

Thanks, this idea didn't even occur to me.
