Greetings from Italy!!

Post by MagaFigo4Ever »

Hello there :)

I'm an italian uni student, and I've come across Go quite recently, and got addicted in like 30 seconds! I've really just began, I'm looking for a goban to buy and start studying on my own. Until now I've only played against SmartGo on the iPod (and win like 50% of times on a 9x9 board with a handicap of 2 stones, I've been playing for like a week) and I'm reading the "Learn to play go" series by Janice Kim (I've read the first 2 volumes, but I feel like I need to study on a real goban and place the stones to "feel" how to play before proceding)..I created an account on IGS, but haven't played yet :) I'm looking for a teacher, but can't really find any in my city :( :(

That's pretty much it, I hope I'll have a good time here with you all (and please bear with me if I'll ask silly things :P)

Welcome! Don't be afraid to play others online. People are usually friendly.

Salve!

Welcome to the club. Don't be afraid to play online games. IGS is good, and you should check out KGS as well. At your level, you should be able to find someone to teach you. And, although not technically a "teacher," plenty of people are willing to give you tips on your games if you post them here or want to discuss on KGS.

Have fun.

There's an L19 room on KGS. You can always ask for help there.

Welcome to L19.

If you want to improve, post one of your games in the 'game analysis' sub-forum.
