IGS automatic greetings
When playing on IGS, my Japanese opponents often greet me with "Let's begin and enjoy a great game." It seems that whatever client they are using has an automatic greeting button. I rather like the idea as it's implemented in Tygem (with a number of automatically translatable sentences to choose from) and I was wondering what IGS client the Japanese are using that has this function.
Patience, grasshopper.

Re: IGS automatic greetings
I admit I've assigned a macro to my greeting before, but the generic automatic one seems so impersonal to me.

You could say: "Let's begin and enjoy a great game."

I just want to say I wish kgs would have automatic greetings, that would be great for blitz games, but only if you could personalize them

You can assign shortcuts/hotkeys/macros for your greetings--not through KGS, but through your operating system or some software (I like AutoHotkey). Your standard greeting would automatically be entered when you hit, for example, ctrl+1 or something. You could also copy your greeting and paste it, which is basically a temporary version of assigning a shortcut/hotkey.
Re: IGS automatic greetings
If it's automatic, is it still a greeting ?
If my oppponent doesn't want to type a simple "hello", I'd rather get no greeting at all than some automatic message.
I have no problem with people who only come online to play Go and who don't want to interact, but come on ... a macro to say "hi" ? I find this way more offensive than someone who doesn't say a word.
This whole "Let's begin and enjoy a great game" thing always makes me want to answer something rude. I think it's by far the most annoying thing on IGS.

Re: IGS automatic greetings
Are you aware that your opponent may well not speak a word of English? He uses the automatic translation in order to be polite. No reason to want to respond rudely.

That's why I don't respond at all.
But if they think it is polite to set an automatic greeting macro, then it's a big FAIL. I find it highly irritating, if not offensive.
