Do you know if

1] it is till in print?
2] does it have an ISBN number?

Don't worry.. The prospect of typing out all the problems here is more daunting than any reprisal from the authors over copyright.

Are there any equivalent Engish books? Of the books I know this seems to fill a gap. Indeed the guy teaching me asked if it was worth translating formally (i.e with permissions)

I think both Chinese versions and Japanese versions are out of print. I don't think either has ISBN numbers.

If you are indeed seeking permission to translate it, probably need to ask the Japanese publisher, the Nihon Kiin.

Fujisawa's Tesuji Dictionary may fill some of those same gaps, and is available in english.
