Japanese go books availability

Post by battra »

I have two questions regarding the availability of Japanese go books, since I noted that a lot of them are sold out.
For example many of the Japanese books reviewed at Senseis Library, including many books in the NHK series, and the Tesuji Dictionary by Segoe (I saw there is already a thread about the latter being out of print). Likewise, among the list of the 100 most sold go books at amazon.co.jp, 37 are already out of print.

Does anyone have an idea about how often Japanese go books get reprinted? Or is it common that thay only get a single printing?

Also, do you know where second hand Japanese go books can be found - online or possibly in some second hand bookstore in Tokyo?
Most out of print books are of course available on amazon, but the prices are very high for many out of print books, often four times the original price.

If you are in Tokyo try Akasiya Shoten for used Japanese go books. Can't really comment on how often out of print books are reprinted though

Thanks, I looked at their online catalogue, and they seem to be very well stocked!
I'm not in Tokyo, but I might be able to go there during next year.
