Sigh... losing streak continues... I did well at the go club and thought I was "cured". However, I'm still getting owned on KGS... Guess I'm just an incredibly poor player, after all...

No, it doesn't mean you're an incredibly poor player. It's simply that you're a beginner and have a lot to learn. Remember what I said about "paying the price"? When things are hard and discouraging, you still have to keep trying. That's paying the price to reach the level you want to reach.Leyleth wrote:Sigh... losing streak continues... I`ve been through the same feelings, and so has almost everybody else here. It's a normal part of striving for improvement.
No more self-pity, please. Keep trying!
You can do it.

If you are serious about becoming a pro I suggest you read this article and then immediately resume studying go.

Re: Trying to become pro
After a little bit of time without thinking about go, got my anger out of me by blowing off some heads on Resident Evil and lots of patience from tchan, my perspective about go changed. I think I'm slowly starting to understand this game.
And guess what? Just won 2 games in a row

Yay! Just got my 6th kyu on KGS! It's amazing how I see my opponent's playing sloppy. I know I can punish, but I don't know how... VERY annoying...

Great talk. I always felt the same about many of the study and improvement blogs, but I wonder why there is a subforum for study blogs on L19 then.Actorios wrote:My two cents:

Seriously, that's on the same (low) witty rejoinder level as 'takes one to know one' and 'if that's what you are, then what am I?'. Just be the better manLeyleth wrote:I'll send you back this link when I got stronger than you.Actorios wrote:My two cents:

Of course, its reasonable to doubt the advice given in a short video without significant sourcing of scientific evidence, especially since it only describes a statistical phenomenon even if the general pattern is really the case.

I think that was his way of stating his goal in a way that gave him no satisfaction.amnal wrote:Seriously, that's on the same (low) witty rejoinder level as 'takes one to know one' and 'if that's what you are, then what am I?'. That isn't the way to treat people trying to help you. If you're going to act like that, I'd suggest reading this.Leyleth wrote:I'll send you back this link when I got stronger than you.Actorios wrote:My two cents:

Re: Trying to become pro
I've noticed that my sentence was misinterpreted. I'm french, therefore my english is bad. I thought the sentence was clear and, for that, I apologize.
What I meant by: "I'll send you back this vid when I got stronger than you" wasn't meant to be aggressive or threatening. I meant that it doesn't matter if you say your goals or not. What does matter is determination to follow and beat them. This is why I replied that way. It wasn't mean or anything. In the end, it comes back to: "I'll prove your video wrong by becoming strong myself".
Sorry if it has been misinterpreted and ended up offending some of you guys.
