Hi everyone.
I'm a 29yo male from Melbourne. I learned the rules back in early 2011 but for some reason soon lost motivation. Towards the end of last year I picked the game up again and soon found myself hooked. Since then I've been studying a bit and hanging around on Sensei's Library.
As far as playing strength goes I describe myself as "abysmal", with a vague hope of graduating to "terrible". My knowledge of joseki is nonexistent, I don't know how to judge which plays are biggest in the middle game, I'm afraid of fights, and I find the opening vague and unforgiving. Hopefully I am not the only person who has had these problems as a beginner, and that I can overcome them with practice and study.
Anyway, good to be here.

Welcome!
Don't worry about not knowing joseki... joseki are fun, but they're not worth stressing over. Being afraid of fights, though - you need to pick more and more until you think it's fun!

Agree with jts re: knowing joseki in the early stages. (I confess I still don't know joseki; try to remember them but... . Sigh.)
