Oho! If it's in 2-3 months then I will surely sign up for that tournament too:)

Yes. Apologies. It's been a hectic week at work for me. I just PM'd with Redundant. Brackets will be posted by tonight. I'm really looking forward to getting this underway.

Ok, as far as I can tell the participants are otakuviking, marcus, lovely, Chew Terr, Redstick, emeraldemon, Nikolas73, Osvaldo, Simba, and Karaklis to make it an even number. Since there are 10 people, there will be some byes to make it work out, which I hope isn't a problem.

Hopefully, for the first round, timezones shouldn't be an issue. I did an embarrassing amount of stalking to find out a general time zone for everyone.

As there are 10 people, a good deal of you will get a first round bye. I know this isn't quite fair, but it does mean that those without a bye get to play more games. Also, as it's double elimination I don't think the disadvantage is too huge.

First round pairs
Nikolas73 vs Osvaldo
Simba vs Karaklis
Everyone else is a bye

Second Round pairs
Otakuviking vs Nikolas73/Osvaldo
Chew Terr vs Lovely
Marcus vs RedStick
emeraldemon vs Simba/Karaklis

For people who didn't have location information, I checked to see if they did an introduction post. If not, then I checked the language on their KGS accounts, some of which I had to find by stalking forum posts.

Is this one also starting? Or do you need someone to set it up?

Kind of. The legs of traditional gobans are modeled after the Kuchinashi flower. Apparently there is also a pun in the name Kuchinashi, something close to "closed mouth" to emphasize silence amongst observers during a game. Although obviously in this tournament kibitz is encouraged.

Also. I'm going to repost the brackets in the OP for easy reference.

As people finish games make sure to post in the thread also so we can keep a record of how the rounds are progressing.

Just found out that "Simba" on KGS is not identical to "Simba" on L19. :grumpy:
I think it would help for participants and tournament director if KGS nicks were published here, or even better if the KGS nicks were notes in one's L19 profile..

I wanted to report that after a very exciting 3 games, I ended up beating Nikolas 2-1 in the first round!!

So now am I up against OtakuViking? Does Nikolas go in another bracket?

Take care,

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
