Double Hane Question

Post by Dazz »

[admin] You had an extra character at the beginning of your file. -JB [/admin]

I have a question about a move I made - move 44 in particular in the game below. It was a double hane and I think I ended up with the short end of the exchange. Would it have been better to play 44 at H18? I am white in the game below. Any other comments are most welcome as to how I could have played better in the game. Thank you

I don't know why the sgf file isn't showing up. It is from a game on Tygem and I saved it as an sgf file using MultiGo.

I think you are trying too hard at 44 (same issue if you play the cut at H18, though it seems a bit better as you don't give the ponnuki). It's ok to just extend at K17 and force opponent to crawl on second line.

A bit further back, J16 at move 40 should do the trick if you want to kill (but I think just forcing black to crawl is a good enough result if you are worried about fighting).

Thanks illluck. The extension at K17 makes sense.
