prokofiev still has a healthy lead. Looking at the Meijin and Honinbo leagues, he's not backing Iyama Yuta or Kono Rin, so perhaps you all should be rooting for them to win :)

I don't think I was the only one who made his picks based on thinking that the competition would start at the beginning of the season (instead of things like Kuksu final and whatnot), so we should catch up.

I thought about doing it that way, but it felt like there would be too few games to look at. Even as is we sometimes have a week go by without any pro matches to add to our points.

Oh, I don't have a problem with it. Just saying that's the strategy I used when picking my team :)

Though, I wish I saw Kono Rin's resurgence coming

It's March now, which means this is the end of the planned time for the first fantasy go league. It's been not quite 4 months, and I'd like to ask a few questions to those of you still following along:

1) Did you have fun?
2) What would you have done differently?
3) What would you like to do next? We could keep going without changing anything, we could recalculate the pro prices, we could let everyone pick completely new teams, we could change some of the rules...

For my part, it's been fun administrating the league, even though I didn't pick a team (didn't want to seem biased). I do think it would be cool if we got more into reviewing the games themselves.

I definitely had fun.

A small thing: I found it distracting to continually click through and look at what other people had on their teams. Eventually, I sort of gave up on seeing where people were getting points during updates--it felt a little too much like work. But it also helps your anticipation if you know who has picked a given player in an upcoming match.

I think this could be improved by posting who got points from each win and/or having a single post that collects the teams chosen by each individual player.

I would definitely not be averse to some sort of change that encourages variety in who we choose. When you have substantial overlap, you get a lot of games where you can't change your relative standings.

If anyone is ever game for it, I think a year long league would diminish the extent to which league members are rewarded for scrutinizing who will play the most games in the next three months.

1) Yes
2) I'm not sure how, but somehow I would have liked the possibility of being more active and not just waiting to see the results you posted. Perhaps if the pro's value would change in real time and there were some way to reshuffle one's team by buying and selling players.

I also would like to see more reviews. Perhaps players could earn extra money by offering their own review of a game. Could be fun(ny).
Patience, grasshopper.

I agree that it would be cool if we could make the game more interactive somehow, although I'm not sure how, exactly. I like the reviews-for-points idea, something to make people take more interest in particular games. Maybe somehow bidding points on specific matches?

I also agree with hyperpape, many matches had both pros "owned" by several players. Maybe just lowering the points each player can use could fix that, not sure exactly.

Lowering the points might work, but it might just keep the overlap as everyone buys Lee Sedol.

I'm imagining a system where the price of a pro somehow depends on the number of people who've chosen him. So maybe each pick increases the price by 1 or 10% (whichever is larger). But I'm not sure something like that is really feasible. It 1) requires a lot of bookkeeping, and 2) requires that people pick slowly over a long period of time, so that we can alternate instead of giving some people the advantage of making all their picks first.
