Re: 2012 Life in 19x19 Tournament registration thread
Ok, I will make a pairing later today!
There are currently 30 registrations. Since the tournament enters people in waves of 8, that means there will be two BYEs in the first round.
Because of the BYEs, if anyone wishes to enter at the last moment, I will accept up to two more entries today, first come, first serve!

Did you already make the pairing, Herman?
Are we going to start with the initial rounds while the 2011 tournament is still on-going? (To answer my own question, I think the answer should be "yes", since we haven't even gotten to the point of deciding on a format for the final yet.)
Are we going to use the same system where there are never more than than eight matches going on in the winner's bracket at any one time? (I defer to people with more experience organizing tournaments, but I lean towards "no". Although it might be counter-productive to start out with Herman playing Lincarte in the first round, there has to be a compromise between straight-up double elimination and what we were doing last year that will lead to more matches per round.)

Sorry, I did not make a pairing yet. I've been ill for almost a week, and am currently abroad, so I didn't get to it yet. I'll try to do it ASAP!
The format will be the same, yes. 16 players enter the first round, 8 are seeded into the second, 8 into the third. I'll write a more thorough description when I post the first pairing.

Warning about moving threads:
As suggested in this thread viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5879, I will probably be creating a tournament forum. This thread will get moved into it.

I think you should go with a fixed bracket again. IMO that's one of the things that went right in the first tournament, but didn't work so well in the second.
