Good stuff; if you want to learn Zerg, while IdrA is of course one of the best to learn from, I'd also like to suggest checking out CellaWeRRa's stream when it's on. Sometimes he'll troll on the NA ladder, play off-race and cannon rush 1000+ diamond players (yes, he did win the one time I saw him do this), which can be extremely entertaining with his broken English chat, but more often he'll be laddering in the Korean server and playing serious Zerg against some of the best players in the world. I was watching last night where he was playing big name players such as CheckPrime (1200) three times, oGsZenio (1300), and SimpsonPrime (1430)...godly ladder. Plus I think you can learn more from a live first-person view with 1,200+ people chatting/discussing than from youtube videos/replays (yes, I'm aware of the player camera function but it just doesn't feel the same).

Cellawerra's awesome. He's pretty friendly too. I saw an interview with him on TL.net which was hilariously awkward, but mostly because of the language barrier. He's definitely a strong Zerg. Also, IdrA fanboys are scary

Also, IdrA fanboys are scaryTL is FILLED with them, and it's amazing the amount of hate MorroW received. He outplayed IdrA pretty well. Took advantage of all Terrans offer.
Haters gonna hate...but then again, I think I can understand why. I didn't have a chance to watch the entire set and all of his matches, but there was just something...abusive about his reaper play. IIRC, he even apologized to a player he defeated with it, admitting its imbalance. Fortunately it seems to be only a TvZ thing; I don't think I've ever stressed out over reaper harass as a Protoss player (MMMs on the other hand...) or seen it often in high-level play in TvP. However, it's still quite potent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdbFUyLMB5k

Re: L19 Starcraft II Players
Really? To me, they seem powerful, especially when you consider that their insane damage against buildings forces you to constantly engage them (and even then, MorroW actually managed to destroy IdrA's natural on Xel'Naga Caverns), but balanced by the fact that they have a measly 50 health. That's two hits from a Spine Crawler (of which IdrA never made a single one, interestingly). Well, we'll see if the new change (build time from 40 to 45) tones things down.Araban wrote:I didn't have a chance to watch the entire set and all of his matches, but there was just something...abusive about his reaper play. Speaking of that patch, what's up with nerfing Ultralisks and Battlecruisers, of all things? With such a significant damage reduction, now not even TLO is going to use BCs, yeesh. I must be out of the loop in which Battlecruisers are OP.

I don't think BCs are OP, but I think this video really shows just how powerful a BC can be...at least it helps me understand where they're coming from with the nerf: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArKKVwnATw0

Are there any high-level Protoss players you suggest watching? It doesn't seem like there are many that stream regularly. The few that are listed on teamliquid's user streams mostly play annoying music and don't comment on their play, and aren't that high level. BigT is the only one that streams regularly and comments on the games, but he's pretty one-dimensional and not really high level. And he's kinda annoying, frankly. By contrast, it seems there are lots of different Terrans to choose from.

Yeah, I agree with you on BigT there and don't like him. It's a shame but decent Protoss streamers are extremely rare. A guy who goes by "orb" is probably the most popular (in viewer count) Protoss streamer on TL, problem is he is just not that good and is only well-known for nerd raging and showing off his immaturity which apparently a lot of people find amusing. CombatEX is also a Protoss player who streams and is pretty high up in the ladder, problem is he's also immature and does a lot of cheesy plays. He's also pretty well-known (in a not-so-good way) in the TL community for this incident. And these are sadly some of the better ones.
I'd say the best Protoss streamer is currently Liquid`Tyler (also known as NonY). Skill-wise better than the rest (him and IdrA are big rivals rooting from their BW days), doesn't put up annoying music, and the stream quality is good. Problem is that he doesn't stream very frequently. You can find his stream here.
edit: Actually, didn't know that TTOne had a stream. I know he's quite good, and after checking out his stream, while the quality is a bit lacking he doesn't put on his own music or do anything dumb, just straight up mass laddering which is nice. Watching him play HuK right now

Re: L19 Starcraft II Players
I don't know of a good stream, but I just watched an amazing PvZ where the protoss (ChiTaPrime I think) fast expanded (as in before any other non-pylon building). I really liked the way the opening seemed balanced on a knife edge. The Protoss player was incredibly confident in handling it and made it look easy. I hope my SC2 can get good enough to pull off games that look half as good as that one.
It can be found at http://sc2casts.com/cast523-ChiTaPrime-vs-MysticPrime-1-Game-No-Event-Korean-Games. The site has a pretty good collection of Sc2 vods. The ratings on it tend to be pretty good - most of the top rated games are worth watching.

Re: L19 Starcraft II Players
I posted the wrong link. However, the game I linked to seems to be pretty epic so I've left it up.

Just watched the beginning again. The opening is so tense and the zerg response is pretty nice.

Yeah...I don't think I've played more than 5 games where I FE, Protoss has to be the easiest race to 1 base the longest

New character is childsish.871 on NA server. I can't see it when I visit the battle.net site, maybe it will take a while to update.

Re: L19 Starcraft II Players
Mostly just trying to learn the game with my brother. My id is ketchup.125 . I have to say, stumbling around keys is not a good feeling at all. Talking about micro is a lot easier than actually doing it. I think to myself, "okay, this time you will try to use control groups to lead the attack with the right units". Then what ends up happening is I'll botch the keys, and feel awkward using it. I realize that I'm actually worse than if I just sent them in with one huge group. Gee Gee bad brain Gee Gee. I guess it's partly due to laziness, and the only way to fix it is to keep doing it. I have to say THAT is a lot more difficult than anything else so far. Strategy means nothing if you cannot get your units to move as you want them to. The other part is basically that I have not played a RTS in so long.
I know nothing.

Re: L19 Starcraft II Players
As promised, here's my ID

Willing to play around with anyone, but, fair warning, I'm terribad at this game.
Still trying to figure out what to build when. Maybe I should read a forum or something.
On the other hand, I just whomped a terran. (though if he had pressed attack at one point he could have seriously slowed me down.)
So maybe I'm learning something. Of course the game went on for an hour, so obviously I'm not learning anything good.
Anyway. Off to bed. See more of you soon.

Re: L19 Starcraft II Players

I am BAD! I've only just started, and I played almost nil SC1. I did play a decent amount of Warcraft 3 2v2, back in the day, but... yeah. I'm pretty sure I got placed into Tin League. =D
Someday I want to be strong enough to earn KGS[-].
