Re: 2nd Kuchinashi Tournament (4k-6k)
It looks like round 3 can begin. Apologies to SoDesuNe who will be playing the winner of Jedo and my series. The other pairings are as follows:
Primary:
Aphelion v. Redundant
Secondary:
Nikolas73 v. Padic
SoDesuNe v. (winner or Redstick v. Jedo)
Note: The loser of Aphelion v. Redundant will be eliminated and will not have a chance in the secondary bracket. The winner will get a bye for the following round when the challenger from the losers bracket will be chosen.

Re: 2nd Kuchinashi Tournament (4k-6k)
That doesn't make sense to me, we're both in the winner's bracket. It seems like this would actually give an advantage to lose in the earlier rounds so you get a easier opponent.Note: The loser of Aphelion v. Re: 2nd Kuchinashi Tournament (4k-6k)
Agreed, the loser of Aphelion v Redundant should go straight to the finals of the losers bracket. Otherwise it's a double elimination tournament for everyone but one player. See the way that topazg set up the L19 title tournament.Aphelion wrote:That doesn't make sense to me, we're both in the winner's bracket. Re: 2nd Kuchinashi Tournament (4k-6k)
Here is the language from the original tournament:
"The addition of the losers bracket came out of conversations with some of the participants who were concerned the tournament could only be 3 games long for some people. This guarantees at least 6 games for each participant and gives those who are knocked out a chance for ultimate redemption. It's true that the person who loses in the third round of the original bracket will be the only person denied a shot at the finals after only one loss but I think it reasons that the further along in the tournament the higher the stakes should be. Also, the alternatives (playing the winner of the losers bracket for a chance at a rematch with the one remaining undefeated player, or having the winner of the losers bracket play the loser of the finals for 2nd and 3rd) are less desirable. Once it's decided that a losers bracket should exist having its winner play for the championship against the only undefeated player seems the way to go."
The point here is that if the loser of aphelion v. redundant enters the losers bracket and then wins it will just lead to a rematch. And it would make the secondary bracket 2 rounds longer than the primary.
Also, it deserves noting that is the first tournament I was the one who lost in this round. I was the only one eliminated with a single loss.
Now, having the winner of this whole bracket playing MountainGo may change/complicate things. So let's open it up to a vote. It really doesn't matter to me. So all participants in the tournament feel free to PM me your votes (although when I report the results I'll have to use your name and how you voted)
Should there be a 5th round added to the secondary bracket so that the loser of Aphelion v. redundant can play the winner of the remaining 4 in the bracket? Or should the loser be eliminated and the winner get a trip to the challenging match?

Due to personal life creeping in I will have to postpone my game 1 with Redundant. We will probably try to reschedule it for next week.

Yay! : ) Sadly, I'm booked until Friday next week and on the weekend (3./4.) I possibly have one important match, too. But we figure something out!Jedo wrote:So now I play SoDesuNe!
Looking forward to it!
