Hello from The Netherlands

Post by maDe »

Well hello there!

I am maDe, 22 years old from The Netherlands. I've been playing go for a few weeks now, but still am (in my opinion) an absolute beginner. As I don't really have anyone in my social groups that play go, I figured I'd join a forum since I feel like I am not really improving a lot by just playing a bunch on my own without feedback or advice!

Welcome! And don't worry, playing a lot is the absolute best way to improve (at first).

Welcome. Try joining a go server. The beginner room on KGS is a good place to start. If you don't have time to play real time games then try DGS. And have you found SL yet? All three are good resources.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

Thanks for the warm welcome so far!

I've been playing online exclusively so far since I don't know anyone in real life that also has an interest in go and the city I live in does not have a go club nearby sadly enough. I've been playing on KGS, IGS and the last few days on tygem a bit as well since it's faster to find a game there in my experience.

Hello maDe,
For a list of go clubs in The Netherlands, see Nederlandse Go Bond (NGB) at http://www.gobond.nl/Verenigingen.
Which city do you live in?

Welcome,

I loved visiting the Netherlands a number of years ago. Love the raw Herring and beer!

Oh and good luck with GO!
Walla Walla GO Club -(on FB)

We play because we enjoy the beauty of the game, the snap and feel of real stones, and meeting interesting people. Hope to see ya there! お願いします!
