Converting Tygem games to sgf on Mac
I am using the awesome Wine solution provided in an earlier thread. Now I can play on Tygem, yay!
I can save games to my computer, but they aren't in an sgf format.
Is there a reasonably easy way to convert game records to sgf?
Thanks.

see http://senseis.xmp.net/?GIB
Also, I found a windows guest in virtualbox to be a much better solution compared to the wonkyness of wine, but whatever floats your boat.

If you are able to run Windows programs via Wine,
see if you can install and run MultiGo.
It can read Tygem's GIB format and save it as SGF.
That's what I use on Windows.
(Sorry, I typed the above before I visited the Sensei page --
I see they already referenced MultiGo. )

Thanks leichtloeslich.
So there are two Windows programs that can do this and one Android program, and no Mac? I guess I'm out of luck. How do other Mac users save their Tygem games for review off-line?
I have no idea about the comparison between wine and virtualbox. The advantage of the wine thread I mentioned earlier, is there were step-by-step instructions outlining EXACTLY how to make it work, without needing to understand why it worked. So I just followed instructions and got onto Tygem. Yay!
I don't know the ins and outs of wine or virtualbox. I haven't coded in many years, and it all looks quite tricky.
Thanks, again.

Ed, per my previous post, I have no idea how to even get started trying that.
I have lost my command line skills.
Thanks.

there is a gokifu.com perl script linked. I haven't tried it, but I would guess it works.
And I'm pretty sure perl comes pre-installed on Mac, I would be shocked if it weren't the case. You need to know how to start stuff from the command line, but it's fairly simple.
Also virtualbox is pretty painless on linux hosts at least, not sure about Mac. On linux you just install it, then you install windows in a virtual machine and you never have to worry about cryptic wine error messages ever again. You will need a windows CD/DVD for this, of course.

Again, thanks leichtloeslich.
Sadly one person's "pretty painless" is another person's "wtf!?!"
Sure I could probably download and install perl, and open a command line, but I have no idea how to link a "script and example" to a downloaded .gib file. Yes, I think I could spend a few hours and hopefully figure it out. But it won't be trivial for me. Well, until I figure it out. Then I'd once again be convinced that I'm an idiot.
Most people I know wouldn't go near a command line. That's the realm of the hacker.

I've had good luck using Wineskin http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php to wrap up Windows apps -- MultiGo works well for me that way. It doesn't require any particular CLI skills either
If you run into trouble I could share the one I've built -- it's about 450 MB, though.

I can vouch for emeraldemon's link - I've used it before. I would have mentioned it myself if I had read this thread earlier.

Re: Converting Tygem games to sgf on Mac
Yeah, that worked! Easy!
It gave an error:
Unreadable result "" on line 2
but it seemed to work okay. Does this work with variations, comments, too?
Thanks, very much, to all who contributed to this thread!
