Lee Sedol vs Shin Jinseo

Post by MinjaeKim »

This is a game from last year. Lee Sedol is who you all know. Shin Jinseo is a very young professional born in 2000. The special part of him is that he learned go in a dojang (dojo) for only 6 months. He didn't stay there longer because he succeeded becoming a professional. Before that, he reached 9d in Tygem all by himself. Many people say that his style is very similar to that of Lee Sedol when Lee was young. Shin Jinseo doesn't avoid fights and he is very confident in complicated positions. He also likes playing very creative moves. Lee Sedol's style has changed very much recently, especially after the 10 game match with Gu Li. He seems to play peaceful and thick. As you can see in this game, Lee just waited for his opponent playing thick moves. He didn't seem to take territory quite aggressively as before. Shin Jinseo started a huge fight with a deep invasion on the left side. Lee fought out strongly here and took a solid advantage after the fight. Enjoy the game.

Shin Jinseo is definitely one to watch; he's a younger Park Junghwan in terms of prodigy hype.
Watch the recent Let's Run Park Cup games as well - he beat three 9p in a row, including Kim Jiseok.

The finals will be held between the 2nd and 4th of December, him vs Kim Myeonghoon 2p. :)

Added bonus: He's 1:1 vs Ke Jie. ;)

The probe at S16 is helping white decide how to fix his connection on the lower-right, yes? Could someone explain how that works? Black responded with a nobi toward the right side, so white used a tiger's mouth. Why? What kind of black response would cause white to choose a solid connection, and why?
