Review, plesh

Post by Cynosure »

Just started on OGS. I might have been a little stronger than I signed up as, because I my first game I only lost because I misread a life and death, second on time, and this one I won. So yeah. Endgame is probs pretty bad, but I haven't really worked on it and I was winning at that point anyways.

Thanks for the reviews, homies!

*EDIT: Okay, so the embedded sgf is just saying it's receiving invalid game data. So here's a link instead.

Hi Cynosure,

:w6: This bump is a Kitani move. :) You can look up and study the joseki.

:w8: Ugh.

:w10: Terrible.

:b11: B5 is very big. You are very happy to push through in sente.
See Toothpaste.

:w12: No. If you push through with B5, then :w10: becomes very stupid, a wasted move.
If you let :w12: connect like this, now you have a floating group.
The difference between the two results is very big (almost incalculable).

:b27: The other wedge, H3.

:b29: Connect.

:b33: Connect.

:b37: Cut at B4.

:b43: Confused. Locally, B3 is big.
Globally, you have to take care of your P5 group.

:w44: W is also confused.

:b45: Both of you equally confused here.
( 3 almost-Passes in a row this corner. )

:b65: o12

:b67: You get a bad result, locally (inefficient) and globally.

:w68: Bad.

:b69: M16.

:b81: You're correct this is small; the left much bigger.

:w84: , :b85: Both of you still confused about the meaning of W's C6 stone.

:b87: Almost a pass.

:b93: That your eyes were glued to the two small, useless W E6 stones means you were not looking at the big picture --
which is the problem with :b43:, :w44:, :b45:, :b81:, :w84:, :b85:, :b87: .

:black: 121 Just drop to E18 is better yose.

:white: 136 Big. This is because of your :black: 121 mistake.
Your understanding of what's big v. small, what's sente v. gote is not exactly what you think it is.

:black: 143 Yes, just connect is better.

:black: 147 There's no monkey jump, but this drop is a big move.

:black: 155 Small. A3, D19, M18 -- bigger.
Locally, M2 is better than your move.
