I'm not sure about the linguistic aspects, but I suspect 'Ko Norin' might refer to Kyo Kagen/Hsu Chiayuan, the 18 year old Japanese professional who is playing very well right now. He was runner up in the 2014 and 2016 Globis cups.

Also, Mr. Kin's site shows Kobayashi Koichi as a seeded player for Japan (http://igokisen.web.fc2.com/wr/bl.html). I wonder which is correct?

Looks like that would be Kono Rin. Kobayashi Koichi entered as wild card.

Kono Rin, Yuki Satoshi, Terayama Lei is seeded players for Japan. We will see correct players when main tournament starts.

All 32 round 1 games online here: http://www.go4go.net/go/games/tournament/144

Korea doing well overall in round 1 scoring 9-3 against China.
Japan wiped out as usual.
Now 14 Korean and 18 Chinese left.
China's Tang Yi (female player) upset Korea's Ahn Kukhyun.
Ke Jie had to fight really hard to win his game (by 0.5 point although resigned)
In round 2, there will be Park Junghwan vs Tang Weixing clash, a rehearsal of Ing Cup final.

Painful, especially given that the pairings were not bad at all. Only Yuki had a really overwhelming opponent.

overwhelming aka a 17 year old Chinese 2d who has never won a major tournament* ;-)

*though he did win the Globis cup this year and is #15 on goratings.org to Yuki's #113.

2-3 against Gu Li, 2-3 against Tuo Jiaxi, 2-1 against Tan Xiao, 2-2 against Mi Yuting. Back in 2012, he beat Park Yeonghun then Park Junghwan in a row. Age back then? 13. He's alright ;)

Li is one of my favourite players. He won 2014 CCTV cup and GLOBIS Cup and has advanced to the final of 2016 CCTV cup. He achieved a 7-game winning streak against Ke Jie this year on foxgo server.
Btw his nickname is "the strongest 1p ever".

Reminds me of something.
On Go proverbs:
"A fine Gotation is a diamond in the hand of a dan of wit and a pebble in the hand of a kyu" —Joseph Raux misquoted.
