Although I can't go due to lack of airfare money ><, many of my friends from Toronto are going from Toronto, and I hear pretty much all the top 7d players will be there. The friends from Toronto I'm mentioning are almost all 5-6d in strength ^^
Here is a tentative list for the open(A) division:
Li, Ryan 8 dan
Hu, Ziyang 7 dan
Koh, Juyong 8 dan
Yang, Jing 8 dan
Fan, Jun 7 dan
Ge, Yongfei 7 dan
Chen, Zhaonian 6 dan
Shi, Gan Sheng 7 dan
Lin, Bill 7 dan
Fung, Jeffrey 6 dan
Yu, John 6 dan
Hu, Joe 6 dan
Yang, Jack 6 dan
Zhang, Peter 6 dan
Huang, Andrew 6 dan
Sha, Irene 6 dan
Gourdeau, Daniel 6 dan
Sedgwick, James 6 dan
Looks pretty strong compared with this year's NAIM
Lol, Although I don't get what that "8-Dan" Insolence is, haha. Canadian ratings don't even go to 8 Dan, and how can someone like Zchen be 6 Dan and someone about the same level be called 8 Dan? Jeez...
I'm one stone, or maybe even half a stone too weak to play in the open division! >< Sad life~
12 years old Hu Ziyang defeated Ryan Li, Dong Wang, Zi Wang, zchen, and Jing Yang, and took the 2010 Canadian Open Champion after just 5 rounds, he is expected to win the 6th round agaunst Bill Lin.
Woah! Who are Hu and Ryan? I'm a yank, and therefore know a bit less about Canadian go, but I know who Yongfei and Jing Yang are, and they're quite impressive players to beat.
