For those who are unaware what the original post is about, Patrick Rothfuss is a popular fantasy author. One of his books contains a scene in which the main character learns an abstract strategy game that, in the context of the fictitious world, shares a long history and avid following akin to go or chess. The game is only vaguely described in the book (I imagined go in my head while reading the novel, and it worked well), but a real life game designer and friend of Rothfuss has recently designed a new game based on the description and Rothfuss has developed a fictional history for it. The rules have been published online, and there is a Kickstarter campaign (crowd sourced fundraising) to raise enough money to produce a physical game and some accompanying paraphernalia. (The campaign has already far surpassed its initial goal.)

I enjoy Rothfuss' books and have been following the Kickstarter campaign. I've also read the rules and checked out the Tak Reddit page, which has link to a server that can be used to play the game online. I haven't played it yet, though, and I think the Kickstarter prices are generally a bit high for the quality of components. I might make my own set; it looks easy enough, and the game sounds fun.
