old programming tools fully modernized

Post by Anzu »

I was lookin' through some old websites with free Basic and C++ compilers for DOS (simple is best), and apparently they added a bunch of libraries written in all kinds of languages to enable the developer to include efficient and fancy 3D graphics, any kind of music, GUI (windows and buttons), and whatever else you might need to write video games (my favourite), or anything else basically.

Still sick from the holidays.

Who?

I was looking for something to introduce my kids into programming with, and I found Small Basic - a Microsoft product capable of graphics, audio, complete with intellisense. Pretty neat I think.
(I was also surprised to learn that QB45 (what I used as a kid) now apparently has a 64 bit version :))
