Requesting analysis on a close game

Post by negapesuo »

Here is a game that I just wrapped up. Please provide a general analysis of the game on where either player lost out on big point moves.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Hi negapesuo,

Were you B or W ?

:b21: Slow, small. Why ?

:b35: D3 directly.

Hi negapesuo,

:w38: You let W connect back because you missed :b35: at D3 directly.

:b41: You go after unimportant stones ( :white: P13,Q13 ). Why ?
Are :white: (P13,Q13) cutting stones ?
No.
Can :white: P13 make a lot of territory ?
No.
Can :white: P13 easily make a lot of power ?
No.
Are :white: (P13,Q13) worth a lot of points ?
No.
( :b21: and :b41: are similar problems. )

:b49: F5/F6.

:b61: Follow-itis!! F18!

:b69: Very small. C17 much bigger.

:b71: Very small, almost a pass.

:b73: Very small, slow.

:b75: Small.

:b77: Very small, almost a pass.

:b96: - :w97: Bad exchange for B. This helps W.
Without this exchange, your push at H6 is better.

Small, slow, or unnecessary moves: :b21:, :b35:, :b41:, :b61:, :b69:, :b71:, :b73:, :b75:, :b77: ( ~ 25% )
Necessary move (missed): :b35:.

During 69 -77, what others moves are bigger? Perhaps reduction at k5? I honestly didn't know and just tried to surround territories.

You need to get into a habit of counting.
Did you count throughout the game ?
What's the situation ? Are you ahead, even, or behind ?

What to do depends on your assessment.
