Beech Veneer Board

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with beech veneer boards,
I'm looking at this one; https://www.schaakengo.nl/goshop-keima/ ... 6-cm-thick
I'm not expecting it to last forever, but to be a nicer board than my current MDF one, which has served me well, and to last for maybe the next 5 years or so until I can purchase my dream set (size 20 kaya, bowls, slate and shell from kurokigoishiten).
I like the idea of having a thicker board (current one is 2cm), as I often sit on my lounge room floor to study, and from the photos the veneer I think looks quite nice. The bonus is that I can order a few books along with the board, and the shipping charge doesn't change. I would have considered a size 10 shin kaya from kurokigoishiten as my intermediate board, but the postage costs are a bit of a deal breaker. And the extra cost might make me delay in purchasing a really nice set.
Thanks to anyone that can give me any insight to how a beech veneer board looks, feels, lasts etc.
Zac
