ASR league SUPERCLASS

Many, many players we have in the league, many 10k, many 2k and a lot of dan players. What we don't really have is exceptionally strong players and i talked to some of them. Basically many uberstrong players like the idea of the ASR league but its not interesting enough for them to play in it since they have no good opponents and would therefore not "profit" from it or are teachers which have students in the league.

So here is my idea, make a superclass, floating above the league.

Requirements for entering:
- player must have a solid 6d+ account
- player must donate a prize to the ASR league, be it a teaching, review or some other sort of eductional solution

THE RULES:

Boardsize: 19 x 19
Handicaps: No handicap.
Time Settings: 45 minutes main time, + 5X30 seconds byo yomi. this is the MINIMUM time limit.
Ruleset: Japanese rules.
Komi: 6,5 points.
Color: nigiri
Type: Free. Players can agree on rated or simul if they want to (NO PRIVATE GAMES! The system won’t be able to add it to the tables!)
Room: Games must be played in Advanced Study Room (under Lessons).
Tag: Players must mention the Tag “ASR League” in the first 30 moves.
Number of games: Each player can play every other player in his class up to 3 times.
minimum games: 10 games
Class size: Each class consists of 14 players.
promotions/demotions: the top player in alpha will fill the 14th spot of the superclass. the player is then in both the alpha class AND the supergroup.

The solid 6d+ account requirement is pretty flimsy...I am not as good as Tabemasu or nonochan but even I have a "solid" 7d account:



Anyone who's been on KGS long enough and looks at the game record will know how I got there (legitimately, but cheaply). I would have the requirement be "A solid 6d+ account with 50+ rated, non-blitz games.".

youre right about that, i will check players games if they at least played a few long games and actually have results against 6d+

As a casual player / spectator I'm all for more slow serious games between high dans.

We will start the superclass when there are at least 6 members. i will bring the minimum amount of games down to 5 games because of availability issues when this class initially starts.

i think i will keep the minimum to 1 game vs every opponent as minimum. so in case of 7 members, minimum is 6 games that month, if more players sign up during the month the minimum is maintained until next months league starts.

I also think that all the high dan players in the super class should agree to play at least 1 game against the guy who got in from winning Alpha, otherwise it is not much of a prize for the guy from alpha if there is no guarantee he will get games .

also oohaah signed up, now having 7 ppl in there seems like a very good start:)

wow, aguilar joined, very cool. Its hard to choose a winner now, they are all very good and at that level everything can happend.
