The ongoing saga. The departmental 3 Dan is still roasting me.

However: Bill Spights "pattern" for countering a 3,3 entry was used no less than three times during this game. I am not sure if Dr Yang is actually be inscrutable here and merely "helping me progress". I did get the impression that the game was passive with the exception of a mistake by me, duly punished around 194.

Here it is in its full glory... As before.. If anyone can give me somthing to help actually give this guy a better game...

Just a side comment

Bill I always enjoy reading your reviews of games posted to this forum, always very educational. The entire game reviews section is one of the best things about this forum, so thanks for putting so much work into it

I agree with Andd. Even though I am obviously much stronger than 14k, I still learn things and have certain concepts emphasized by reading Bill's comments.

Thanks again for these comments... another half hour of pouring over them.......

What amazed me was that the guy must have been adding things up as he went along... and was content not to over punish..

Game three has started.. I now have new patterns...unfortunately he is not playing cricket this time and I've been given no chance to use them

Oh dear. That's terrible. It looks like you may have to give up memorizing patterns and start learning the ideas behind them. :mrgreen:

I've always found trying the old ultraviolence out against much stronger players to be a good way to learn ... while losing by hundreds of points.
