Recent game

Post by ZeroKun »

Tried to get fired up for the Orlando tournament next month, so I started a few games on DGS. I thought this one seemed a bit early to resign, even if it lives, I'm really not that ahead right, that's my feeling given the openness of the middle section. Thanks in advanced.

lol, Yeah I thought both of us played a decent game, though in these types of games with a slightly calmer fuseki, I find it hard to grasp ideas of where to make territory. In the end I was expecting the game to last another 30 or so moves, if not to be completely finished.

I saw that, but what I wanted to prevent White from doing was gaining influence from my weakened group, I think he might end up getting a nice thickness if I played under more.

Since white can still invade and live after :b25:, I don't think it is a very good move. If you want the corner, P3 (the kosumi) seems better.

No understanding of what is now, no knowledge of what will be.

Your strategic choices were iffy on occasion, but your tactical play was way better than his, paticularly in the lower center and lower right.

Thanks, I really don't have that much experience playing, I've spent most of my Go life just watching games, probably why I usually end up clueless as where to go next. I pretty much knew from playing those 3 stones in the middle that I'd have a hard time afterwards, but I'm glad it worked out this time. I usually fear thickness/influence because I usually end up getting creamed by it often and don't really know how to counteract it, that's why I chose to play like that in that area.
