Website to help organise your KGS+

Post by wukong »

Hi all,

I've set up a new site which provides some useful features for organising your KGS+

- Search events by teacher/language/type (types: audio, text, teaching, tournament)
- Mark events as viewed/unviewed
- Set event reminders (30 mins, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, 2 hours)
- Set reminder for your subscription expiry
- Comment on events
- Rate events
- Tag events

The last one is my favourite. Users can tag an event with its main subject (e.g. opening, joseki, or whatever) which can then be searched by others. It's rudimentary and, at the moment, empty but, hopefully, people will get in and tag them so that the feature becomes truly useful.

The address is http://plusone.monkey-jump.net. I hope you find it helpful. If you have any comments or suggestions, reply to this thread or email me at wukong@monkey-jump.net

On a final note, the site is not affiliated with or endorsed by KGS; I just took data from public pages and rearranged them ;-)

hey, I might start subscribing again.

I was always annoyed at not being notified that my KGS+ subscription was about to expire, until after it already expired.

I can understand this annoyance. I was a regular subscriber. One lecture was on the day when my subscription ended. It turned out that due to some timezone bug, I was able to still access KGS+ although the membership had in fact already ended. After the lecture, my subscription ended and I made a renewal. However, when I wanted to access the lecture which I watched online, it was greyed out. Even after I contacted KGS support, the lecture was not 'reactivated' for my account.

Sure, no big deal, but it turned out that I did not renew my membership since that.

Good stuff. Any chance the comments in http://senseis.xmp.net/?KgsLectures could be imported?

Hi Darrell, I'm afraid that the list is too sparse; importing it to the system would be time-consuming with little gain. For example, there are only 5 English lectures listed for this year out of 45 (up to the end of May), and only 4 Japanese lectures in total for 6 years of KGS+.

My hope is that the tagging system as well as the comments will help people in choosing which lectures to view. I admit that there is much work to be done but I hope that this will be a good starting point.

If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
