Can message links open a new tab?
This was done on GD, and I see it on a couple other (non-Go) fora I visit. The idea being that when I click a link that someone included into a message, I'd like it to open in a new tab without me explicitly opening it that way. Not sure if other liked that behavior in GD, but I did.

There's been a discussion on this, and most people were against it. If you want to open in a new window/tab, you can middle-click. If all external links open in a new window, the reverse is harder.

"Middle-click"?
All modern browsers offer modifier key combinations that let you open a link in a new tab.

Sure, but for those with a middle button on a mouse, middle click is just so easy - no keyboard required for browsing just how I want to

I've got five on mine, but there's no default middle-click setting for Macs...

I don't have a mouse. I have a touchpad, but I don't use it very often.
A good system naturally covers all corner cases without further effort.

Re: Can message links open a new tab?
I think on a Mac it's command-click. On a PC (Windows or otherwise) if you only have a two-button mouse, usually clicking both buttons is the same as a middle click. If you have two buttons plus a scroll wheel, clicking the scroll wheel is a middle click. On a Vax you use the foot pedal.
