Issues

Post by tyuiop »

Evidently, ratings have not been updated in over a month. That's unacceptable, with dozens over tournaments played since then.

Additionally, it seems as if several tournament reports are missing (all the ones played on the 7th-8th). What is going on?

I note that you are correct. This is odd, as Jonathan has been updating them very quickly and efficiently every time I've submitted games since he took over.

Perhaps the website migration has something to do with it. I'll try and find out what happened.

I'm sympathic, but get a grip. In the same period last year there were nine tournaments, not dozens. Do you actually know there were tournaments on the 7th and 8th? The first week after the Christmas break is likely to be pretty quiet.

What is going on? I'd wager that either the ratings person is busy or else they are having web server issues. Neither one is a life-or-death (tsume?) issue, at least not for the ratings junkies.

I think there may be a sympathology there...

otherwise, agreed.

EDIT:
If we draw from the word empathic
I suppose sympathic would a capacity to feel sympathy. So is the cup full or empty?

Phil, I think you are being soft here - not only are the ratings not updated but I have personally seen photos on Facebook of our ratings coordinator partying it up while Rome burns.

Jonathan - get back to work and congratulations on your son's wedding.
My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle

The 7th and 8th featured the Jujo cup and one other tournament.

I agree the OP's wording was too strong. I'm also understanding that AGA is volunteer based, etc etc.

However I think right or wrong, many people view official AGA ratings as the most important/visible service the AGA provides. No matter your own personal opinion on the importance of ratings, a significant percentage of the players I come in contact with place a high value on the "Officialness" of an AGA rating.

Let's give the poor guy some more time to answer my email before we get out the pitchforks and torches, ok? :)

If that doesn't work, tomorrow I shall... send more emails! To other people, even!

I heard about a minimum of two. Secondly, the last tournament entered is on the 10th of December. Although I agree that "dozens" may have been a slight exaggeration, there have been at least one dozen since that period.

I have gotten vague responses so far. I do know that people are working on it, and I'm guessing it has something to do with the ongoing website migration, but that's still a guess at this point. Will supply more details if and when I get them.

the ratings database is still working off of the old/current server. The new server is not ready to do ratings actions at this time.

They still are missing a tournament report (promised, too) for the Jujo Jiang tournament. I see that they did post a report for another tournament on the 7-8 weekend though.

The Jujo is in there. Spelled differently, but I played in it and it's in my player card.
