one-point jump galore (3k game)

Post by ShinLyuu »

Hello, this game escalated into a one-point jump fest towards the center pretty quickly, but I had no idea how to handle the situation properly and ended up losing by time. Would anyone be so kind to tell me what I did wrong? (aside from reading errors of course)

I have some question about :w8:. Because it is so close, Black can put pressure on it.

:w16: does not look good. All you are doing is running. (Jowa says, Don't run. :)) :w16: makes :b13: look good. If you simply give :w8: up, :b13: looks silly, doesn't it? :)

:w20: Now is the time to make shape in the center. You cannot afford just to let Black keep attacking your group. Attach at K-14. The White group on the left side is fine. :)

:w24: K-12. Same idea. :)

Ok, thanks. I was thinking about just giving up my pincer stone, but I was afraid it would be too big a loss. Must stop thinking losing a single stone isn't always such a big deal.

Just wanted to say thanks to ShinLyuu and Bill S. I have got into a similar one-point
jump fest where neither side knew how to stop, so it was good to see the question
and answers in this thread.
