Kombilo 0.7.4 on Mac OS ML

I have been having issues doing pattern searches in Kombilo 0.7.4. Wanted to compare some notes, to see if this is something other OS X 10.8 users are having issues with as well, or if it is due to my unfamiliarity with Kombilo (I did follow their manual) :

1. Right-click to select a portion of the board to perform pattern search does not work. I tried this with an external mouse as well.

2. After I search for a whole board pattern and Kombilo displays all the games matching this from GoGoD, I'm not able to delete the tree/reset things and search for another pattern. I usually quit and restart kombilo.py

3. Kombilo occassionally crashes when I try to do a complete reset.


The instructions in the manual looked pretty straightforward but I'm a bit lost

I have tried to check on my own install of Kombilo 0.7.4 on Mac OS ML (I use wine with the provided windows installer) but unfortunately it does not launch anymore. Seems the last Macports updates for wine have messed things up.

Did you manage to compile a native Mac OS version ? How ? I don't want to use brew as suggested in the doc since all my packages have been installed with MacPorts and there are compatibility issues...

If you have managed a working version under MacOS this might interest other Mac users.

Install a working version of kombilo074 on Mac OS X (10.9.5, should also work for 10.8), using the windows exe
(did not manage to build from the source under OS X).

If you don't master wine installs you may use winebottler:

- download the last build of winebottler :
http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/downloads
(current: 1.7.25)
- install the winebottler app
- download kombilo074.exe (win installer)
- launch winebottler. Install kombilo074.exe in winebottler (options: advanced ; this is the installer execute it)
This creates an .app (pattern search working).

One thing to add for technophobes is to make sure that you pick the kombilo074.exe-file from the dropdown list offered by winebottler upon completion.

Thank you very much for this solution! I was looking for a way to install Kombilo (I'm not a programmer) and using Winebottler works like a charm!
