I saw the following Exercise in the book Chinese Opening , page 75 and 78, "Problem 2". For a reasonable discussion I have to spoiler the problem's answer, so anybody who doesn't want that should not click the spoiler below!

Re: Where is the crucial mistake...1k vs. 1k?
I think this game is a good example of why just knowing good and bad moves is not everything in Go. It's also a game of spirits, answering the question of who is better at forcing the other one to his will. This guy didn't have to struggle once, because you never questioned his plan. You always ...

Weiqi Study Experience China?
Did anyone here go to China to study Go seriously (seriously = at least 6 hours per day for at least 5 days a week, all together 3 months or more)? Where did you go? Did they speak English or Chinese? How strong have you been before? How much stronger are you afterwards? Do you think it was worth ...

@Herman: Yes, probably you are right. Maybe I confused that variation in my memory.
@Robert: Of course your variation is better for black. Discussing would mean that I show you a move for white that makes it impossible for black to get such a good result and I can't do that.

Re: Joseki: Sansan invasion, response never seen before
How would (a) be joseki?
How would I even start discussing with you? I'm no expert and don't know all the side variations of any joseki. I play that because I'm quite sure Guo Juan said so. That's all I can say as an argument.
To be more precise:

Re: Kyu-questions
I think your 67 looks fine. It strengthens and extends your moyo while threatening to cut H15.
Move 50 of white was a mistake which you could have simply profited from by just defending against his threat. You instead decided to fight, which feels a little like you want to help white make something ...

I come back after nearly a year of absense. The first thing I see is a Big SGF from Bill Spight and already learn one or two new things.

Re: Experiment with a different fuseki
In the end? I'd say move 10 won you the game.
I can not express how much I hate the expression "move x lost the game". There is no such thing. A move can give a huge advantage to the other side, but not lose the game. Maybe if the game is close and you fail to play the last big endgame then you ...

Re: Good thing this wasn't ranked =)
@Shaddy, you express it quite well. Actually these 2 are more like a lot of Aji. I also wouldn't consider bringing them forcefully to life. That's what I like about go. The ability to do X can be used to your advantage even if you never do X itself.

Re: Good thing this wasn't ranked =)
Actually that game is something you can be proud of. You f*cked it up in the end but you first needed to lose THREE very big areas before it was a win for W. There is a long timespan in the game where you are actually with over 50 points ahead. I think the kind of mistake that costs you such a game ...
