Re: 8k vs 8k
Thanks for that post Bill! I felt like my play in the upper right was pretty desperate as I knew I was behind. Lately my I seem to be playing pretty poorly. I was fortunate he answered my push at T16. The ko won me the game but only because it looks like he made some huge errors. Thank you for ...

Re: 8k vs 8k
Yeah move 51 is kind of ridiculous
. I meant to connect, but I got distracted by something else nearby and misclicked. I decided to just play it through since I figured it was my own fault.

8k vs 8k
Hello everyone!
Its been awhile since I asked for any reviews so I was hoping you guys would be willing to look over this game for me. Last time I asked for a review it was pointed out that I was playing just a little fast (as in less than 5 seconds a move ). Since you guys pointed that out, I've ...

Re: At last, lost my 100th (rated) game!
Hey Tezza,
I'm in the same boat. I've lost my first one hundred games I'm quite sure as well . Right now I'm working on slowing down my game a good bit as well as trying to actually focus on reading ahead. I have a bad habit (probably from playing video games when I was younger) of reacting to ...

Re: Learning Joseki
Well jts has a good point. I have been trying to work on those things as well, but I was wondering if studying joseki would be helpful towards learning some of those things. I've always heard avoid studying joseki and so I was wondering 1) when to study them and 2) should I study them at all if all ...

Re: Learning Joseki
I figured that memorizing was the wrong way to study for the most part. Although has you pointed out even it probably has benefits. My question I guess is should I bother learning them now or are they something to learn later? And also I don't plan to just memorize them, I learned that memorization ...

Learning Joseki
Hello everyone! I had a question about learning joseki. From what I heard memorizing joseki does very little or almost nothing to help you improve or understand more about the game. However, is there a point where you should begin studying joseki? Or can you do just as well without learning any? I'm ...

Re: Review- 11k vs. 13k
I apologize for posting such a short game, it wasn't meant to be disrespectful to any of you guys or your time. Last week I got a job for the summer and my time has been taken up in training and new shifts. So when I get a chance to play, I have been playing fast to get more games (I still probably ...

Review- 11k vs. 13k
Hello everyone!
After the last game you guys reviewed I have been trying to follow all the advice in my games, and I do think I have improved some already . I was wondering if you would be willing to give me any advice on this recent game I played. I tried to go through the game myself once ...

Re: Counting Territory
Thank you for all the advice. It seems for the most part I may not need to be really focusing on this skill quite yet. However, I better get the practice in as much as possible. Judging by my most recent attempts, counting is going to take me quite a while to get the hang of.

Re: 14k v 16k
Thanks Redundant!
I'll go over that game and try to find some of those needless moves and begin doing a problems everyday. I have Tesuji by Davies and 1001 Life and Death problems so those should keep me busy for awhile I think.

Re: 14k v 16k
Those articles and your advice on broken shape were very helpful! I played another game earlier today trying to keep in mind to not let my positions become broken shape and I feel like I did a much better job at it. I'm still having problems of telling when I can move quicker vs a slower move, but ...

Go Problems
Hello! I had a question about studying Go problem sets of any kind (life and death, opneing, etc). Right now I'm looking at getting the Graded Go Problems for Beginners books eventually. However, I was wondering about how to go about studying. So far I've been told its fine to look at the answer and ...

Re: 14k v 16k
Thank you for all the replies! It appears that I need to be way less greedy concerning center facing walls (although I need to play more territorially I've been told as well). I guess after seeing the walls build up in the first few moves I saw territory being built, and got concerned when white ...

14k v 16k
Hey guys!
This is a game I played earlier today on KGS. It seemed to go pretty well although I know I made quite a few mistakes (as in alot I'm sure... ). During this game and several others I have had, the person always seems to start pushing, or "digging" into my territory-its around move 60 this ...
