Re: Tesuji problem

The sequence that speedchase showed to escape is really useful to remember. It was played against me in probably half my games when I was a ddk. Also that chapter in the book ('knights move tesuji') is just to show a way to avoid this escaping sequence.

Re: KGS 19k (me) versus 17k

After move 208 you could use the white group at the top as a practice problem. White to move and save his group.
Also after the move white played (209) how can black kill the group?

After move 209 k18 kills white.
If white plays k18 on move 208 his group can live with 2 eyes

Re: Chess v Go

I was slightly surprised by the apparenty superficiality of their thinking process. They look maybe 1 or 2 moves ahead, think, naah, that's too complicated, I'll go with this simpler move. I presume this is to keep it simple enough for a wide audience, but even so, it gives the impression that ...

Re: Two 'intermediate' tsumego

Thanks a lot didnt think of (a) which is bizarre as the problem before this one (which is shown above) is almost exactly the same and I found that answer right before attempting this one.

Re: Video tutorials for beginners?

Hey mate, I've been watching and very much enjoying 'Murugandi reviews' from eurogotv site.
Rather than take a subject he will go through a game and explain most the moves. The conversations are between a 6d and a kyu player. Its both enjoyable and instuctive and you get to hear whats wrong with ...

Re: Goal: 16k -> 9k in 60 days

Hey mate definitely believe you can make your goal. I just hit 9kyu today and was about 16kyu 2 months ago .
I dont agree that you should be playing against people much higher rated (unless its a teaching game). Although the occasional game against someone higher than 9 kyu would be fine its ...
