Re: More beginner problems..

Thaks for these points! Do you propose 25 at E3? Where would you play 71?

195 - B-A9 w-x B-E5?

Re: More beginner questions..

Ah. Yes. Sorry. I realised it was riddled with mistakes. I didn't mean to imply I had only made 1 mistake!!! Thanks for the extra comments. I will try to apply tbem...

Re: More beginner questions..

Thanks! So I guess move 58 was the real mistake for me - and everything else cascaded afterwards! What would be better? K15, K14, tenuki?

More beginner questions..

I would be very pleased if someone could give me some advice on this game. I am sure I made plenty of mistakes before this point (certainly many afterwards), but I was wondering if there is a standard way to respond to move 31? A similar sequence happened later in the game - move 113 - but I totally ...

Swimming is probably the most efficient way to...

Oh! That kind of shape. Study tesuji, definitely.

Haha! Yes - a bit of swimming might not go amiss too! :)

Helps with stability of groups.

Shape: There are books but - watch high kyu/low Dan games. Notice that "connection" of stones is not only about joining them together....

Re: Comments gratefully received - KGS 9k vs 8k

Thanks everyone for their posts - very helpful. I need to work on my shape - any recommendations for the best way to do this? Also watch for weak groups - which I guess will come if I keep watching out for them.... Maybe!!??

Graded Go Problems for Beginners...

Hi all,

I've been working my way through this series. I am now some way through book 3 - and am solving maybe 60% of the problems - I am also taking much longer than the suggested 1 minute in the intro to the book.. maybe about 3-5 mins. Should I go back and redo book2 or should I just stick it out ...

How terrible am I at reading!! :)

This was a game from this evening on KGS. I was maybe not feeling the sharpest, and so didn't read things through that well, but would appreciate some comments on where I need to put in more work. I feel my Tesuji skills are very poor, but my worst skills are in fighting..

Re: Hi everyone!

Welcome, how do you find fitting in interests like go with young children?

I just have to be careful to use any spare time I have wisely! My commute to work takes 1 hr each way on public transport - so that is good for doing Go problems, and watching videos sometimes.. Getting out to a club is ...

Hi everyone!

I'm new here, so thought I'd better introduce myself. I'm 39, live in London, have 3 children, work as a scientist/doctor, and play in a band.. so I thought I would try to learn Go properly too.. I originally discovered the game when I was around 14/15 and used to play on a cheap cardboard goban ...
