Re: Kombilo 0.7.1

Hi, Ulrich, and thanks for all the work you do. I am working on the Winter 2012 update and successfully run the new database on my desktop (74,426 games) but then on my laptop I tried to do a shortcut. I highlighted all the database directories and clicked "Reprocess DB". Now, every time I try to ...

Re: Nongshim cup 2012

China and Korea both have preliminaries to choose who gets in. It's a bit strange that someone (who?) just chooses the Japanese team.

You're assuming they chose these people. It's very possible that they asked other "A-List" players, but they declined (because of the short time settings of course ...

Re: Good job guys!

As an idea it is something that might be cool, but if turns out not to be, it still must be implemented just because it was a cool idea in the beginning.

I'm afraid this is the heart of the issue. Earlier when someone raised the suggestion to give people the optional choice of proper custom games ...

Re: Good job guys!

There is so much talk in this thread about having the ability to reject challengers as they do on KGS. I find this practice offensive. I you post a game offer, just play the game that is accepted by your challenger. On KGS there is far too many people who check rank graphs to find opponents on ...

Re: Good job guys!

To be honest actually I only play automatch on KGS because I'm lazy. But it's still very simple.

Some kind of confirmation before the game starts is a good thing: Removing this does not make the game start faster. If one player isn't there to click, all that happens is that he starts with less time ...

Re: Good job guys!

If direct offers are available, as are automatch offers, and blacklisting/censor lists, what other situations are covered by KGS-style custom games? i.e. what problems does the lengthy negotiation system of KGS solve?

You have no individual control over your opponent. For example I like to ...

Re: Good job guys!

Direct challenges already exist. Still, the current system is equivalent to Automatch on KGS (for the one making the game). Selling the lack of custom game offers as a feature is just silly.

Re: Good job guys!

You have a very decent level of control over who you play. You can pick the specific time settings and handicap of the game that is going to be played.

That makes no sense at all. It sounds like you have 0 control whatsoever over *who* you play.

Quick match and such is all fine, but no way to ...

Yes, he did very clearly, the java client is not maintained.

Re: Java client source code

Is it abandon ware? Where can I get the new version?

In any case, I'm guessing the connection to the server would be very similar if not identical, thus revealing how to interact with the server.
It's abandonware. Known bugs will not be fixed, because wms is fed up with java (reasonably), and all ...

Java client source code

Hello,

since it seems the Java client is now effectively abandonware, it would be very nice if we could get the source code. Previously this was shot down because of possible support requests for non-official clients, but since the current client is not being maintained anyway, i think now would be ...

Re: Why KGS encourages escapes and how to fix it

escapers are very common against me. The additional effect of this is that I worry about people escaping when I am gaining a lead, this takes a lot of fun out of playing for me.

I am confused at all the people mentioning that they have dodgy internet connections: I was suggesting an option that ...
