Re: World Cup football/soccer

@DrStraw It's probably pure gold. The mark up is for the exclusivity. In a black market no one gives a detritus but for a collector, people will pay a lot to be the only one to have it.

Gold bug here. I've bought, researched and studied precious metals for years. Love the stuff.

Re: Did this guy cheat?

That actually makes sense. I did think that the white stones were dead.

Did this guy cheat?

How did this guy win? I was demolishing him and then when we were counting he somehow ended up with +4.5. The stones in the upper right corner weren't picked, but when I pressed done, they were. I do'nt get how that happened.

I played black

Re: How would you handle this pincer?

My immediate question is why white chose to approach from the inside instead of the outside for the initial corner approach in the game. isn't some amazing wonder move, it's just a san-ren-sei like formation that wants another move to accomplish the same thing.
Would that be considered a bad move ...

Re: How would you handle this pincer?

I don't think I'd try a double approach at the moment, since I haven't a clue how to do it, but as far as how the board looked, the SGF I posted was the whole game up until that point.

It came down to ko... I think

I played this game recently and at the end I reviewed it with my opponent. We were both wondering if there was a way to kill his black group at the end. It all came down to who would win the ko (I think). That, plus, I'm sure I made mistakes all over, so any other comments are truly appreciated. I ...

How would you handle this pincer?

Thanks to this thread ( http://www.lifein19x19.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7273 ) by lovelove (which rocks!), I tried playing the pincer joseki, the better way than what I was doing before, like this

Re: Sanrensei question

I should clarify that. I know it's a legit move, I'm curious about how white played it out.

Sanrensei question

What are your thoughts about this follow up to white? I ask because I played a game where this happened. I still won but I didn't know if I played it well or if my opponent made a mistake.

Re: What's the idea behind this 3-3 invasion?

I should clarify that white's cut is just what I happen to come across. People for some reason love to play that cut. I always suspected that it was a bad move.

What's the idea behind this 3-3 invasion?

I know the typical joseki is like this

Insei Curriculum

Does anyone know how the training is structured for insei? I've never had anything in the way of a guide or a teacher and so I'm curious if there's such a curriculum or course.

Re: Food Thread 2.0

I suppose it depends. If you'd like to teach children the basics of cooking, I tend to thin that a soup is a great place to start. It teaches basic techniques like using a knife, sauteeing, simmering and it exposes them to a whatever ingredients you want to introduce them to. It's also a great way ...
