Strategy and Thoughts
Take four corners and you win the game, right? :)
Well, probably not, but this still looks like the biggest move on the board to me!

Strategy and Thoughts

Ok, now the fun starts. I'm happy that the top has been largely neutralised with regards to his ability to defend against the thickness he built up, and the right hand side is equally hard to develop. Sadly of course I'm behind on actual points, but at least I can start this fight and see how it develops.

This week I'm going to give a detailed explanation of all the big decisions in the fuseki from me so far, and then go through my game plan from here in some detail as we plough into the middle of the game.

topazg, that diagram seems a bit messed up.

Yes, I copied and pasted the wrong diagram from my notepad hashup :(

Wrong move numbers on the caption (53-55), wrong sequence order in the lower left, and missing the forcing moves in the middle which I want to play first.

I've repasted the fixed diagram :)

I agree :)
Move 54 goes to D13! I don't see the benefit of the bamboo joint in this position. D13 leaves me with a large endgame move unless he defends at C13.

This game, being open, appears to have the ability to post long move sequences not as an assumption but as "I'm happy to play this."

Well, yes, but I feel uneasy about the suggestive power of the presented sequences.

I think that the actual move should have its own diagram, and then it could be followed by another diagram "I think it will continue like this". Then the opponent does not need to undo moves.

This is the case even more for the "closed" Malkovich games.

Hmmm, true, you can live with connecting, but only in gote, so that's ok. It's a fair exchange for securing my bottom and losing the aji of the jump out.:

Strategy and Thoughts

If I can secure the lower edge further in sente, I'm going to play here for a moyo game. I can't avoid the fact White has picked up points in each corner now, that's the price of the strategy change to adjust for the messed up top left corner. We'll see if I can get silly amounts of points down here instead!

Strategy and Thoughts

If I'm that weak, I can't believe that the contact is better than sealing me in. White has influence from the left, and an alive group in the corner. If he can build thickness facing the middle my game plan is gone. Still, we'll see what he has up his sleeve.

I'm actually going to apologise profusely, but I think I'm going to resign here. I'm frustrated that I'm not investing far more time into this game than I am, and I think it's a disservice to Malkovich games personally just to play out moves in the forums. I'm burning out at the moment with a crazy amount on in my personal life, and I just can't find the time to do this properly.

As it is, the joseki blunder in the top left has cost me ~30 points I think by my latest guess, and that makes me at least 10 to 15 points behind right now, so resigning isn't completely unreasonable anyway.

Good game zwergesel, maybe we will meet again sometime :)

Awww, just as it's starting to become interesting!
My middlegame is bad! I would've lost many points! The more I think about my last move, the more I think it's a mistake!

But, well, thank you for the game! It was fun! And I can now say that I defeated a 1d in an even game :D
I wish you good luck with whatever is keeping you busy in your personal life! Stress is the way to the dark side, so remember to relax once in a while and don't overburden yourself, young Padawan! :)

Oh, and we'll definitely meet again!
