Wow, how can you still be 24k on there? Their rating system must be seriously broken, I think you play a *lot* stronger than that!
My name is Gijs, from Utrecht, NL.

When in doubt, play the most aggressive move

Graded go problems Vol 2 I gotta skip this one I have seen all of these problems before on smart go and many faces and even the igowin life app. Wow. No wonder I am getting them all right. Is the whole series of problems on those programs does anybody know. One thing all of these problems I can find on my programs if I look for them. I realized by section 7 this is way to familiar. I did some comparison and I am definitely right these exact problems are on smart go and most of them are on many faces and igowin which is basically the same program for the iphone.

So no I'm on Vol 3 they might be on my programs but they are not as familiar as Vol 2 here I go!
Well they are a lot more fun than VOL 2 I’m still getting them right but I don’t recognize them like before I even spend more time reading out variations. Tsumego is fun again. I’m going through middle game problems right now on Vol 3

Going through Graded Go Problems Vol. 3 and being 23k is definitely not right =D Guess, on KGS you would be at least 12-kyu.

Well, ranks are often somewhat strange. I was struggling for a while in low IGS ranks (made it up to 17k), then switched to KGS were I went up until 5k instantly. It was unbelievable back then, but basically it is just a number. If you have even games right where you are enjoy, if not your rank will change sooner or later anyway. Switching the server once in a while may help not to get too attached to those numbers.

im on problem # 20 in vol 3 i only got 5 wrong so i think this is the book for me. :D

yesterday i played a lot of great games i don't even know where to begin oh yeah
i beat this guy who beats me every time we play, i won by one point.

i just now noticed they upgraded the problem button on the Wbaduk window so instead of a webpage like before a nice little applets loads up and you can solve problems in between games which is good for me because i was tired of the same old problems on my phone

I'm on 17 out of 365 19-15k problems i got 3 wrong so far. i really like these problems. :study:

i only played like 6 games so its not a solid rank but i got the picture.

Well back to Wbaduk
i got more friends on wbaduk now so im kinda attached to it my friend dfshwiuf just made 20k :rambo:

Wooo! I got punished today :blackeye: its back to the books and some serious review of my games

I played a few blitz games. I’m not good at blitz games.... yet

30 seconds a move, i don't think i ever played that fast before
and my opponents opening was weird it threw me off completely I didn't know what to make of it

I was surprised and didn’t even have time to get over it because I had to play before time ran out. It was fun but some of the craziest go I ever seen. It looked like all the rules went out the window and it was just a big fight

But actually the opponent was very calculated and knew exactly what to do and the opening had a quiver effect on my games because it was new to me.
here is the blitz game

a lot of my groups died today rest in peace & no wins for today but I got taught a lot lessons
& did a lot of problems online

I'm on problem number 51 on the wbaduk problems 19-15k
I'm going to finish up some more of graded go problems Vol 3 before I lay it down for the night

I'm still working through attack & defense I haven't looked at in two days I left off on the shoulder hit now I'm on capping plays it’s a great book and extremely well written and explained

If I'm not too tired I will review lessons in fundamentals I finished the book but I think
I should keep reviewing it until I'm at least 20k

Don't be intimidated by your opponent. A lot of his moves were actually not good.

What about

N2 at M3 (works better against the white stone)
D6 at C6
F4 at E3
O4 at O6?

C12 was probably the crucial mistake, it doesn't threaten White which is strong there already and leaves the C14 invasion behind. What about a move like N17 instead - playing away from thickness?

I liked how you outread your opponent in capturing the P12 cutting stone.

How would playing an opponent who is weaker than a computer teach you less bad habits?

Some bots continue to make the same type of mistakes - playing against them too often may result in you developing a habit of playing bad moves that work against the bot.

But so do human players. I think the suggestion of not playing bots should be replaced with not wholly playing against a single opponent.

I agree - playing bots is not bad as long as you understand that playing against the same opponent exclusively may hinder your progress. Of course, even if you do play a human player exclusively, as long as your opponent plays against other players it's unlikely to be a big problem.
