Re: Sevis (8k) v. metaperl (10k)
I turned on Wiki formatting as suggested and then chose Edit -> Copy as Ascii, but it came out wrong. I'm sticking with the standard sgf posting format.
I will report this to the author of SmartGo though. It might be a bug ...
notice the reversed move colors in the corner.
The next post will have my correct move choice.
Here is a screencast documenting the failure:

SmartGo also may be able to copy and paste in the format used here for diagrams. I'm not sure, but it's worth looking.
And I found it here...

Here is a screencast of that approach creating a wrong diagram:

1. Under a diagram of the current board, Click Here To Show Diagram Code.thequietcenter wrote:I turned on Wiki formatting as suggested and then chose Edit -> Copy as Ascii, but it came out wrong.
I'm sticking with the standard sgf posting format.
2. Highlight and Copy the diagram text.
3. Post Reply.
4. Paste.
5. Edit your move; add comments, etc.
6. Preview.
7. Rinse and repeat (5) and (6).
8. Submit.

It's a bug, but it's easy to work around. SmartGo uses the current player instead of the color of the first numbered move. So you can change the player before choosing Edit > Copy as ASCII by choosing Play > Black/White to Play.
If you insert a diagram node (Edit > Insert Diagram) to show a sequence of moves, and choose Copy as ASCII while you're at that diagram node, the color will be correct. This is the intended usage, but of course it should work with whatever you have showing on the board.

Re: Sevis (8k) v. metaperl (10k)
From a observer's point of view, its nicer and easier to read ascii diagrams. Also I can't read the sgfs very well on my smartphone, which I use fairly often.
From the experience of a player, editting an ascii diagram isn't very hard or time consuming.

Hey dude! Long time no see. You are at 4k. Nice going. I'm not cooperating with Ascii diagrams, end of story. It's easier and more convenient for me to do it how I'm doing it.

Yeah, I was pretty confused by what the current move is.
